2015 – The Year of the Drug Execution

Following up after a bit of delay due to other life issues:

2015 is over, and it turns out to have been a year where 552 people were executed for drug related crimes – 41% of the total people executed.  Most of these were in Iran and Saudi Arabia.  But, Indonesia made waves with 16 executions in two batches in January and April, which included mostly foreigners, including two of the Bali Nine from Australia.

Me As The Condemned Inmate – Expected Thoughts, Feelings, and Emotions

I’m going to spend some time imagining – as I often have – what it would be like to face execution by various methods used, or proposed, in the United States and in some cases elsewhere.

I’m going to start with the following assumptions, just to set the stage:

Nitrogen Asphyxiation

While it isn’t a totally new idea, in April Oklahoma became the first state – likely the first place – to authorize judicial executions be carried out by nitrogen asphyxiation.  (Tulsa World, April 18, 2015, Time, April 17, 2015).

Drug Execution Rates

Earlier I’ve posted about the rate of executions for drug trafficking this year (and going a bit back into last year).  However, I’d not actually looked at the rate.  I just went and looked over the execution data at captialpunishmentuk.com for the first seven months of this year, and the rate is much higher than I’d have thought:

Continued Drug Executions

2015 could well be the year of the drug execution.  May and June totaled 148 (+- 1).  Add this to the 180 reported in February, March, and April, and the 50 in January, this gives a six month total of 378 executions for drug crimes, mostly in Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Follow Up – Approximate Timelines for Various Methods of Execution

Following up on the information from the video mentioned in Another Good Video, I’ve generated the following table of approximate times based on an execution scheduled for 6:00pm on May 12, 2015 – tomorrow evening as I write this.

Another Good Video

I just watched an old Discovery Channel on the last 24 hours on death row. I think it does a good job with the basics of the procedure. It will certainly inform some of my not for publication writing and fantasies.

More Drug Executions

Late last month – April 29, 2015 – Indonesia executed another batch of drug traffickers, including two of the “Bali Nine.”  This led me to do another count (as before using the Executions Worldwide page on capitalpunishmentuk.org).

Executions of Drug Traffickers

I regularly check in on capitalpunishmentuk.org, including checking his monthly listing of verifiable executions.  It was doing this, not watching the news, that I discovered that, last July (2014), Singapore resumed executions with a pair of drug traffickers, and that last month (January 2015) Indonesia executed seven drug traffickers.

Execution Fantasies

I’ve touched on these before, but I’m going to go a bit more into my experiences and fantasies.  This could be considered explicit content, and discretion is advised.

The earliest fantasies I recall having regarding being executed were from when I was quite young.  In bed, I’d often lie face down with a wadded up blanket under my groin pretending that it was a “poison pad” used in executions.  This was very child-like with no real realism.  However, it may have had some pre-sexual aspects to it.  I grew out of this one way or another by the time I was 8 or so.
